If your home is your main residence, you might be eligible for a residential tax exemption, leading to potential tax savings. See below for more information!
The residential exemption works by lowering your tax bill IF the property is occupied as a primary residence (i.e not an investment property). For FY2024, eligible Boston homeowners can save up to $3,610.53 on their tax bill. Boston's FY2024 residential tax rate is $10.90 per thousand in assessed value.
Homeowners who close on their home (deed is recorded) before July 1, 2023, may qualify for FY2024.
You have until April 1, 2024 to file your application.
